Balcon Express is a family-run Salvadoran and Mexican restaurant on Sixth Avenue, in the space that used to be the Old Milwaukee Café. It opened in late 2022 as a follow-up to El Balcon, the family’s first restaurant, in Bremerton. The name is Spanish for balcony, after the one at the family’s South Tacoma home where the recipes were perfected.
The menu leans on Salvadoran street food, including handmade pupusas, masa flatbreads filled with beans, cheese or pork. There are vegetarian options too.
