Balloon Roof Baking Co. is a sourdough bakery that opened its Sixth Avenue shop in March 2026, in the old It’s Greek To Me building across from Memo’s. Loaves are shaped by hand, fermented slowly and baked dark. The shelves also carry buttermilk sourdough English muffins and focaccia, and the case holds kouign amann, ham-and-cheese croissants, cruffins and stacked focaccia sandwiches.
The bakery got its start in Fife and is named for that town’s old Balloon Roof Dance Hall. The shop is roomy and full of natural light, with tables and a barista at the counter.
