Ezell’s Famous Chicken opened its first restaurant in Seattle in 1984, across the street from Garfield High School, and got a national boost in 1989 when Oprah Winfrey praised it on TV. The Tacoma location is on Martin Luther King Jr. Way on the Hilltop.
The menu sticks to fried chicken, chicken tenders, sides, rolls and home-baked desserts, and the sides are made daily from recipes the founders learned as teenagers in Texas. Orders can be placed online for pickup or delivery, and Ezell’s also caters.
