La Isabella is a downtown Mexican restaurant on Commerce Street that opened in March 2024, cooking from family recipes handed down from a great-great-grandmother. The steak is grass-fed New Zealand beef. Street tacos come with fillings like chicharrón in salsa verde, barbacoa and carne con chile, and the menu adds quesabirria with broth for dipping, a taco toreado, tortas and enchiladas verdes.
The bar leans on mezcal, with a Mezcalita Picante made with serrano chile and an Oaxaca old fashioned, alongside margaritas, horchata and café de olla. It serves lunch and dinner and takes reservations.
