America’s Car Museum in Tacoma celebrates Día de los Muertos on Sunday, November 1, 2026, with a lowrider car show, a cultural ceremony and food from local vendors. The celebration starts at 11 a.m. on the museum plaza at 2702 East D Street in the Dome District, and the museum’s events calendar lists it running until 3 p.m.
The museum describes the day as a celebration of the Mexican tradition built around culture, lowriders and food, and it’s meant for families and friends to come together. It’s one of two Día de los Muertos festivals in Tacoma that Sunday. Tacoma Art Museum’s free festival runs 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. downtown, so it’s possible to fit in both.
What’s to eat
ACM lists three food and drink vendors for the day:
- Tacos El Tajín
- Dreamsicle
- El Koreano Café, which is inside the museum
The event page doesn’t include menus or prices for the vendors, so plan on buying food as you go.
Lowriders and the closing ceremony
The lowrider car show runs on the plaza from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is meant to show off both the cars and the artistry behind them. Owners who want to put a car in the show can register through the link on the museum’s Day of the Dead page.
A closing cultural ceremony takes place on the plaza from 2 to 2:45 p.m., weather permitting. Most of the day happens outdoors, so dress for a November afternoon.
The event page doesn’t list an admission price for the plaza celebration, so check with the museum if you also plan to tour the galleries.
