Howdy Bagel is a bagel shop on South Tacoma Way that bakes its own bagels and whips its own schmears, with hot coffee to go with them. It’s open four days a week and closes early if the day’s bake sells out, so mornings are the safer bet.
The shop traces its start to a Texas-raised baker and his partner, who worked out their recipes over long nights and early mornings. It also sells bagel platters.
