Moctezuma’s is a full-service Mexican restaurant and tequila bar on South 56th Street, one of four in a Washington group that goes back to 1978. The fajitas can be ordered flaming, with tequila poured over the sizzling platter and lit at the table, and the molcajete mixto and tacos on fresh tortillas are house standbys. There are vegetarian and gluten-free options.
The tequila bar stocks more than 100 tequilas and mezcals, and margaritas are made with 100 percent agave tequila and fresh citrus. There are fire pits, and happy hour runs Sunday through Thursday.
